Just as each individual session is different, so is the experience of each individual after their Reiki therapy. We are all wonderfully unique, made up of:
Some people feel an instant change in their wellbeing, an increased sense of calm, ease of pain, suppression of irritating symptoms such as coughs etc. For others, the effects can be more subtle and take a little longer to manifest. For some, it can be deeply relaxing and lead to a blissful night of restful sleep, whereas others find it hugely energising and therefore benefit from an daytime session more.
On rare occasions, recipients can even experience low mood and energetic discomfort after their first session. As with any holistic therapy, it is worth remembering that the goal is to heal the mind, body and spirit and that to do so can take time.
Sometimes, the initial session can be likened to the breaking of eggs to make an omelette - the first time we have our chakras rebalanced after a long time out of kilter can, understandably, feel unusual and disquieting. Further sessions can then provide the opportunity of "putting Humpty back together", by gently encouraging the body and mind to accept and enjoy the improved energetic alignment and, in doing so, allow itself to heal more deeply and completely.
If you feel nothing - give it time! Also be aware that the changes your body may be experiencing could be subtle and unexpected, since the origin of any issue may not be necessarily at the point where the issue is being felt... Reiki is all about realigning and rebalancing the chakras, our energetic centres, which have been subjected to such a variety of alterations and upheavals in our past that can manifest in all sorts of ways.
Please be assured, so long as you are truly open and receptive, the healing will most definitely be in process on some level!
WHAT TO DO
In any case, the best advice after any Reiki session is to increase water consumption by at least double the amount for the week following the therapy, to truly assist the process of the healing.
Avoiding unhealthy eating, alcohol & caffeine consumption is also recommended, as the more cleansed we can remain, the easier it is for the healing to absorb.
Similarly, allowing yourself to rest and relax after a session is highly recommended, which is why I prefer to come to you - to allow you the time and opportunity to rest and restore in the comfort of your own home afterwards.
